Activist

Elizabeth G. is an equal rights activist who leverages her own experiences of the sex industry to affect societal and legislative change. She is a staunch advocate for criminalising discrimination against sex workers, and is campaigning for sex work to become a protected characteristic under the Equality Act. This would make it illegal to discriminate against existing and former sex workers. Other protected characteristics include age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

The Challenge

SEX WORKERS FACE WIDESPREAD DISCRIMINATION AND PREJUDICE IN SOCIETY

Sex workers are heavily discriminated against in society, not only facing moral censure but also discrimination when it comes to housing, banking and employment.

Discrimination only makes sex workers more vulnerable and can help traffickers, rogue clients, and rogue agencies to flourish. Those who discriminate and shame are part of the problem. The sex industry is the oldest profession in the world, fulfilling a deep social need. It is not going anywhere, especially in light of the cost-of-living crisis.

Sex workers earn their living just like any other professional. It is time to end the prejudice that forces sex workers into the shadows once and for all.

Ending the discrimination of sex work once and for all
